My grandfather's struggle with identity is deeply influenced by Taiwan's complex history of colonization. Throughout his life, he has navigated the shifting national identities imposed upon him. This personal experience of identity reflects the larger issues faced by various ethnic groups in Taiwan. Understanding the history between Norway and the Sámi people provides me with a reflection on a similar situation, as I also carry the colonial trauma of my ancestors. Through the creation of 3D-printed porcelain Sámi shoes (kommager), glazed with natural clay from the Arctic, Trondheim, and Taiwan, I incorporate materials from different regions in my political context.
