Malfridur Adalsteinsdottir is born in Iceland. For the time being there are mostly to starting points in her art; one is natur, and the other is architecture, cultural heritage and craft tradition. Her works often centers on the harsh nature of Iceland, northern Norway and Spitsbergen- the clear and bright light that forms a pattern when shining on water, ice and snow. She combines traditional craft with contemporary art, like she dose in her horsehair and wool embroidered images. The old craft tradition demands closeness between the product and the person making it, as people rely on natural resources, and the production is very time consuming.
